Initially trialed in Delhi NCR, Uber Shuttle has been in Kolkata since last year through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the West Bengal Government. The initiative is now set to expand in Delhi-NCR, following the Delhi Transport Department's granting of an aggregator license under the Delhi Premium Bus Scheme. This move will allow Uber to operate shuttle bus services for regular regional commuters. Commuters will be able to pre-book seats on their preferred routes by selecting the Uber Shuttle option on the Uber app, enhancing convenience and streamlining the daily commute for many.
An official from the Delhi transport department expressed the government's commitment to improving public transport services and diversifying transportation options to facilitate smoother commuting for Delhiites. They are optimistic about Uber utilizing its global experience and technological capabilities to enhance the commuting experience in Delhi.
