Pixxel, a space startup based in India, has made significant strides in its mission to build a constellation of hyperspectral imaging satellites for Earth monitoring. The company recently announced a successful funding round, raising $36 million and attracting Google as a new investor. With this fresh capital, Pixxel aims to further develop its AI-powered analytics platform, 'Aurora,' and expand its satellite constellation. These advancements will enable Pixxel to deliver actionable climate insights and empower individuals worldwide to make informed decisions about the planet's well-being.


Awais Ahmed, co-founder and CEO of Pixxel expressed excitement about the funding round, stating that they are now one step closer to realizing their mission of building a health monitor for the planet. Pixxel's hyperspectral satellite constellation, set to be the world's first and highest resolution, will provide unprecedented insights into climate patterns on a global scale. The $36 million raised in this funding round brings Pixxel's total venture funding to an impressive $71 million, making it India's highest-funded space tech startup.

Pixxel plans to launch six of these satellites by March next year, forming the foundation of its hyperspectral imagery constellation. With over 50 commercial contracts in its portfolio, Pixxel anticipates drawing monthly recurring revenue from clients by mid-2024, supporting its expansion plans.
