  • Meta Verified, the paid verification system by Facebook and Instagram, expands to India, following its launch in the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, the U.K., and Canada.

  • Indian users can now purchase a monthly subscription for ₹699 on iOS and Android, with a web purchase option at ₹599 per month coming soon.

  • Meta continues to honor legacy blue badges globally, ensuring verified accounts are protected from impersonation and maintaining user satisfaction.

The expansion of Meta Verified, the paid verification system introduced by Facebook and Instagram, is swiftly spreading worldwide. Initially launched in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand, the feature has now extended its availability to the United Kingdom, Canada, and most recently, India. CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared the news of this expansion in a recent post, highlighting the advantages of Meta Verified. This article delves into the latest developments, pricing information, and benefits of the subscription service, emphasizing the enhanced user experience and heightened security it provides.

India has now joined the growing list of countries with access to Meta Verified, following the announcement made by Mark Zuckerberg. This paid verification system is now open to all eligible users in India, with Brazil set to follow suit. This expansion underscores Meta's commitment to bringing the benefits of its verification system to a global audience. A spokesperson for Meta confirmed the expansion, stating that the feature will be gradually rolled out over the next few weeks on both Instagram and Facebook platforms.

Although Zuckerberg mentioned the U.K. as a newly available market, Meta Verified had already been spotted in the U.K. last month. Meta recently expressed its intention to test the service in Canada, making India the true new addition to the list. The waitlist for Meta Verified was previously opened in India back in March, but it was not accessible to all users at that time. This expansion now brings the advantages of paid verification to the Indian user base, bolstering security and ensuring authenticity.

Meta has introduced a subscription pricing model for Indian users, allowing them to purchase a monthly subscription for ₹699 on iOS and Android platforms. Additionally, a web purchase option will be made available in the coming months at a reduced price of ₹599 per month. This pricing structure aligns with Meta's strategy in other countries, ensuring consistency and fairness across different markets. Subscribers to the Meta Verified service gain access to a range of benefits, including proactive impersonation protection, direct customer support, and exclusive features on Facebook and Instagram Stories.

In contrast to Twitter's verification approach, which involved revoking legacy badges from users and encouraging them to become paid subscribers, Meta will continue to honor legacy blue badges globally. Meta recognizes that these verified accounts have met specific criteria to confirm their authentic presence, making them more susceptible to impersonation. By retaining the verified badge, Meta aims to safeguard these accounts and the individuals who engage with them. This approach sets Meta apart from Twitter's strategy and showcases Meta's dedication to user satisfaction.

Meta Verified presents a well-considered approach to monetizing power users, surpassing Twitter's Twitter Blue subscription service in terms of benefits and user experience. Subscribers not only receive the verification badge but also gain access to various additional perks, such as proactive impersonation protection, dedicated customer support, and exclusive stickers for Facebook and Instagram Stories. Furthermore, subscribers can support other creators on Facebook by receiving 100 Stars per month. Meta has refined its subscription offering since its initial launch, eliminating certain perks like increased reach for additional test countries. The subscription pricing for Meta Verified in India remains consistent with other markets, ensuring fairness and accessibility.
