  • Jio Platforms has signed a deal worth Rs. 350 crores to manage the National Informatics Centre (NIC) cloud services, the Indian government's IT arm.

  • The partnership is expected to improve the NIC's cloud infrastructure, enhance digital capabilities, and reduce operational costs.

  • The deal is a significant development for Jio Platforms, which is expanding its digital services offerings and poised to become a key player in India's digital landscape.

Jio Platforms, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, has reportedly signed a deal worth Rs 350 crore to manage the National Informatics Centre (NIC) cloud services, the Indian government's IT arm. The partnership is expected to reduce operational costs while improving the NIC and other government entities' digital capabilities.

The NIC has been at the forefront of India's digital transformation for over four decades, offering various digital services such as email, data centers, video conferencing, and web hosting to government departments and agencies. However, the NIC's cloud infrastructure has struggled to keep up with the growing demand for digital services, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the need for digital solutions in the country.

Under the agreement, Jio Platforms will upgrade and maintain the NIC's cloud infrastructure and provide various cloud services such as storage, computing, and networking. The partnership is expected to enhance the reliability and scalability of the NIC's cloud services, increase efficiency and reduce costs.
